The University of Melbourne is located in Parkville， an inner suburb of Melbourne. The main 31 hectares (77 acres) campus sits on top of a hill with scenic views across the city， and overlooks many of its buildings including the famous Old Melbourne Gaol. Other campuses include the Creswick School of Education and the Dookie campus which are both in rural Victoria， as well as several research facilities elsewhere in the state.
Melbourne has a temperate climate， with warm to hot summers and cool winters. Precipitation is evenly distributed throughout the year， though there are distinct wetter and drier seasons.
